Frequently Asked

Individual visitors are welcome to simply turn up during opening hours — no advance booking required. For school and group visits of 10 or more people, we do ask that you contact us ahead of time so we can prepare for your arrival and ensure you have the best possible experience.
Most visitors spend 60–90 minutes exploring the village, reading the signage, and hunting for hidden objects. If you're a history enthusiast or travelling with curious children, allow a full 90 minutes. Last entry is at 4:30 pm to allow enough time before we close at 5:00 pm.
Absolutely — the hidden object trail is specifically designed to keep young visitors engaged, and adults tend to get just as absorbed in it. Children under 5 enter free of charge, and the fully accessible pathways mean prams and strollers are welcome throughout the village.
Yes. Old Hobart Town is fully wheelchair accessible throughout — pathways, visitor areas, and toilet facilities. If you have any specific requirements or questions about access, please contact us before your visit and we'll do everything we can to help.
This is Tasmania — we're prepared! Free umbrellas are available for all visitors if the weather turns unexpectedly. The village has a mix of covered and open sections, and the experience is wonderful in all seasons, with autumn and winter light giving the model a particularly atmospheric quality.
Yes — we have a fully stocked souvenir shop on site with a range of keepsakes, educational books, and Tasmanian-made gifts. It's a wonderful place to pick up a memento of your visit or a gift for someone who couldn't make the trip.
